Easel Art Space workshops and courses have been developed to provide an alternative to existing art schools, as a supplement to active art societies, and to provide the community with engaging and motivating art experiences as participant and audience.

Easel Art Space workshops and courses are COVID19 compliant with the 4sqm recommendation being our requirement. Therefore, numbers of participants are kept low. The workshop spaces are light, bright and fully air-conditioned for our participants’ comfort, Winter or Summer. We also have the facilities to experience outdoor activities.

These workshops provide participants with the opportunity to work with Master Artists. Our Master Artists will work with artists whose skill level ranges from confident to experienced and across a variety of media. The aim will be mentoring, upskilling, supporting, developing and consolidating new approaches and techniques. These workshops will be focussed and intensive lasting for 1-2 days and on occasions could be field trip based.

Studio courses have been developed to focus on introducing, or refreshing participants foundational skills and the elements of art. Studio courses will provide opportunities to connect with new people while learning / refreshing skills and engaging with art.

Our initial courses are designed to; cultivate and consolidate drawing skills, develop an understanding of colour theory, and move onto water-based mediums such as watercolour or gouache.  It is planned to start introductory courses in pastels and oils as the year progresses

In time intermediate and advanced course options will become available.

Introductory courses will consist of a series of 3 hour practical sessions over a period of 3 weeks with the possibility of extending to 6 weeks.

We are a NSW Creative Kids Provider and offer several creative courses for primary age children. Our courses run in a series of between 5 and 10 weeks during school term time.

Our approach to Creativity

We believe it is important to develop creative, artistic and cognitive skills that enable a student to see like and be an artist / writer / creator. We consider our students to be artists / writers / creators and we work with them to develop personal goals within the skill sets being presented, promoting engagement and observable progress.

We keep our class numbers small as this enables us to personalise student learning matching their needs and skill development with carefully measured outcomes driven progression.

We take a variety of focuses encouraging engagement using a broad knowledge of subject types and various engaging stimuli.  Cognitive skills such as visual memory, observation, concentration and visual processing skills are integrated into all our classes.

We use Visible Thinking Routines to help students visualise, think and wonder about resources we present to them as inspiration / motivation to produce their own works within a consistent skills framework.

At the end of each course the student writer / artist / creator will have created one major work in addition to drawings, writings, designs, paintings, photos and videos produced during weekly workshops and displayed as a portfolio showing their development.

The students will share their achievements with parents in a celebration session.
