NATURE'S CHILDREN - SARAH DUNCAN SOLO EXHIBITION
Sarah’s works are done predominantly using compressed charcoal, as well as white chalk and coloured chalk pastel on white paper. The smaller works are coloured pencil on black paper.
The subject matter in Sarah’s works are human-like portraits and native flora and fauna of NSW. She has chosen to portray a blend between humans and nature. As the title of the Exhibition Nature’s Children suggests Sarah has personified nature. The plants and animals Sarah has chosen to depict are often endangered species.
Sarah’s hope as an artist is to raise an awareness of the environmental issues and the harm people are doing to their surroundings. By choosing this subject matter Sarah aims to celebrate and show an appreciation of Australia’s beautiful native wildlife.
